Default Limited slip diff with E locker

Can the stock POS e locker open diff be modified or changed out to a limited slip diff with the e locker? I hate the stock locker cause the truck makes too much power for one wheel and I don't want to leave the e locker on cause of wear to the tires and diff.

Not sure what scenerio you would have an issue, but I like the e-locker. Wish I had one on my diesel which definitely has more power than an ecoboost.

You can change it out to a limited slip but you won't have an e-locker anymore. The e-locker is part of the open carrier. I removed my open carrier/e-locker and replaced it with a Eaton Detroit Truetrac (clutchless) limited slip. I couldn't stand the open diff. either.

Not sure why you'd want to change it out. The ABS controlled two wheel antislip works extremely well. Better than the lsd in the Dodge I had for sure, and well enough that most guys with elockers will almost never find themselves in a situation where you need them.

The truck is to press and hold the Traction Control button for a full ten count, until your display says Advance Trac Off.

As far as I know there is no way to take it off right now with it being in 2 wheel drive for the traction control but that still doesn't solve the problem of the one wheel getting power. I was hoping to have both if possible. I guess I'll have to ask the dealership when I take it in for the oil change next week what I can do.

Limited slip doesn't change that either unless the one wheel getting power slips.

Turn off the traction control, in 2wd, and peel out. You will find two parallel lines from both tires spinning, despite having an open differential. In 4wd, both axles work this way. You can leave 4 lines if your talented enough to drift the rear end around.

The only way to force power to both wheels is the locker. You really only want to use that when you're stuck or about to be stuck. Driving like that normally will make your front end and rear end swap sides.

I'm with Sullyman. I drive freeways, highways, back roads, gravel roads, pasture fields, yards, construction sights, etc. on a daily basis, and I really don't see where you are going to have "too much" power for one wheel. If it is that bad, use four wheel drive for a short period. I do this every day when I pull into my driveway or go up a steep hill on a gravel road. Like Sullyman said, only use the locker when you are in fairly extreme conditions, otherwise your traction control works really well, almost like limited slip.

I thought it was decided that Ford fixed that in 2012 models and up. The problem you had was limited to 2011 and prior. The OP had a 2013, so he's shouldn't have any one wheel peel issues.

The traction control works better than an lsd, and no clutch packs to wear out on you. I remember when my Dodge's lsd locked up and had to be replaced. Scared the crap out of me. It was raining, and I took a left, and then, whoosh, I was facing the wrong way. The only maintenance is normal brake maintenance.

The only change that I'm aware of is on the 2012's the e-locker works in 2wd and on the 2011's the e-locker only worked in 4wd.

My Truetrac L/S doesn't have clutches to wear out either. If my 1 wheel spin control worked like it was supposed to on pavement I wouldn't have invested in a L/S. But I hate open diffs. and that's all I had on pavement.
