Lead time?
I am not sure if this will help - I ordered a 2013 Lariat in the last week of September (I suspect that the backlog now is roughly the same as it was in September). I had a VIN roughly 2 weeks after I placed the order, and the truck was scheduled to be built just less than 4 weeks after the order was placed (roughly 2 weeks after the VIN was issued). There was some sort of a quality hold on the truck, so it missed its scheduled shipment date. The truck arrived 8 weeks after the initial order - with the dealership roughly 3.5 hours away from the factory.
If there were no factory hold on the truck, I would have received it in 5 weeks from the date of the order. The dealership had an allocation remaining for an F150 truck, so the order went through immediately (the person responsible for placing the orders claimed to be receiving dealer ordered trucks for inventory in 4 weeks, while the salesman suggested 6 to 8 weeks).

Well I just ordered a F150 SuperCrew Lariat on 1/7/2013. I was told 4-6 weeks. I have not gotten a VIN or been given any information yet. It is a pretty good size dealer(usually 100+ on the lot at any given point). I''l post back as I get information. This is a tought wait.... I really want my truck.
I just found out that my truck was issued the VIN. It is scheduled for a 1/28/13 build date and 2/20/13 delivery date. It will be interesting to see how close to that schedule it ends up actually being. I ordered it on 1/2/13. The painful waiting process continues...
That order date to build date time difference resembles what I posted above regarding the timing of my truck's build.
I am not sure if this will help you pass the time, but a couple of suggestions (some of the things that I did to pass the time):
Download and read the owner's manual:

In 7 or 8 days you should be able to see the window sticker for your truck. Put this link into your web browser, with your vin number after the equal sign:

If you are within a couple of an hours drive to Dearborn, MI., take a tour of the Dearborn Truck Plant... very impressive seeing how the trucks are assembled. Those center consoles sure look flimsy from the overhead view. You might see a truck that is similar to your ordered truck headed down the assembly line.
Take a drive though some of the other Ford dealer lots on a Sunday and see if you are able to locate a twin for your ordered truck - I came close to finding the twin, although it was a two wheel drive with the 501A package rather than a four wheel drive with the 502A package.
Check out the F150 online inventory of near-by dealers to see if you can get a better idea of the average elapsed time between the build date listed on the window sticker and when the truck no longer shows as "Dealer Ordered" (indicating that the truck is now in stock). You might also try requesting a mailed brochure, specifying a 30-60 day expected purchase date - you might receive a $750 coupon.

Hi Computer Guy,
Thanks for the info. I downloaded the owners manual and read most of it before I ordered it as part of my research on making the purchase. It really helped orient me to the truck.
I sure wished I could tour that Dearborn plant. I was able to view the Mega Factory tv show of the plant which I think I have watched 3 times now. Seeing it in person would be really cool, but I live in Oregon.
I have been checking my local dealer for a similar truck, but they are still sitting on a bunch of 2012's. No surprise because they are horrible to deal with. I had to go 3 hours away to get a fair deal from a larger Oregon dealer.
My truck is scheduled to arrive about 3 days into my 2 week vacation, so I will have something to look forward to when I am returning from our trip! This is all assuming they stay on the projected schedule.
Cheers!

I wonder if the Limited's come from the same factory. I had to ask my fleet sales guy for info otherwise I doubt he would have told me. You may want to inquire if you haven't already. Good luck. Personally I will believe it when I see it. There are still opportunities for delays...
