Default Killing time....

So I ordered may 2/3/4 some time in there, truck was built June 4, and my dealer says it's not leaving the factory until the 29th. Sad. I'm looking forward to getting this rig and having fun. Any words of advice on how to play the waiting game with out going insane?

I know this makes me sound like a little whiny kid, but I'm not really whining...I think. Any one know why it's staying at the factory for so long? I thought the trucks were built in a day....not 25.

I ordered the FX4 with the Ecoboost. FX luxury package with nav and all that jazz. Blue flame. 18 inch rims yadayadayada. I'm getting a screaming deal on this truck though so I should not be complaining one bit. I feel like I'm almost steeling it.

But, who else nearly went crazy waiting for their rig?

Not only would I like to drive it, but I have a ton of work around the property that I need the truck for. I'm getting double hip surgery and having surgery on my left shoulder this July so I hope I will have it for a couple of days to get all this stuff done before I go under the knife.

/end un-organized rant.

I've never special-ordered a vehicle for that reason exactly. I hate waiting. I just do my research, find one on a lot somewhere that has everything I want, and go get it.

an advisor at my old dealership ordered a '12 F250 in January and after having her first soon-to-be truck totaled by a hail storm, and the next one showing up with entirely wrong options, she didn't end up receiving it until almost August. I don't know how she was able to wait that long without absolutely losing her ****, I never would have been able to.

They've had some parts issues since May so thats probably the biggest hold up ... I couldn't wait for one eihter so I just looked within a 200 mile radius.

My salesman is getting a 4 week turnaround from the factory. Amazing stuff!

I don't know If I could ever buy a truck right off the lot unless it was exact. I loved the fact that my truck was made for me and only for me, and not rugged by some bastard kicking tires on a Saturday. It feels more special that way.

I spent some time looking. I wanted a 4x4 Screw with heated/cooled seats and nav, and limited slip.

after about 2 weeks and 3 trips to dealerships all over 50 miles away that ended in disappointment, I realized that I was in fact, a complete dumbass, and the King Ranch that is now mine had been sitting on the lot of the dealership I work at for almost a month. I don't know how I overlooked it but it in fact had everything I wanted, and I was able to get a great deal being an employee. I had almost resorted to ordering one but the deal they gave me made it worth it to buy used instead.

This is why when I was going to order mine, I changed my mind and drove 16 hours roundtrip to get the same truck 3 states away. Within 48 hours of knowing it existed it was in my driveway.

Needed an excuse for a roadtrip anyway

it shouldn't be that long, it took me 24 hours of straight driving to get from Madison, WI to Missoula. and Detroit is about 7 hours from Madison.

David, I live in Missoula. You just moved out here, right? How are you liking your new home?

yep I did. I'm honestly not huge on it so far. it's a cool place but I haven't met a single person yet and can't find anything to do around here. in the last 3 weeks I think I've played more xbox than in my entire life collectively before I moved here lol.
