Feel free to tell me I'm wrong here...as this is just a thought. But, will the 04-08 door check, fit? I know those have the "just right" open spot. Again...just thinking out loud.

Default Door Checks: 04-08 vs 09-12

Here are pics of both the 04-08 and 09-12 door check assemblies.

Got these from a Tasca Parts ad on EBAY.

04-08 is silver....09-12 is black.

Does not appear that they will interchange.

Default GSXR1216: Thanks!

.....for the pic of the tooling you did.

Interesting that two of the detents are close together and one way out.

My initial thoughts are two put the third detent exactly halfway between the two existing ones.

When we get the parts and see how much flat area there is between the two existing detents...it may be possible to shift the new detent left or right a bit.

Of course....this will require an extensive testing procedure at Northlight Labs top-secret facility.....

How hard is it to replace a door check with a retrofitted one anyway, assuming this modification works as intended? Is this a 15 min plug-and-play job in your driveway (remove 4 bolts, swap part, tighten 4 bolts)? Or more like a 1 hour deal with a lot of fine tuning and adjustments for door alignment, etc.?
