you don't "install" the programmer, you install the program

it's a shame that the $400 only gives you 10 hp and 19ft/lbs of torque (looking at the 4.6l anyway)... but the changeable shift points, tire size adjustment, and top speed limiter remover would be a nice bonus

Yeah this is the main reason i got the programmer was for the tire size, ring and pinion changes....the shift point and small HP gains are just an added extra.

So far the truck seems more responsive, and has more go for sure. I noticed my truck being a little sluggish after getting wheels and tires, so I though that getting new gears would get me back where i wanted to be. I talked to my buddy that owns an off-road shop in town and he informed me i would need to re-program the truck for the new gears. he made me a deal on the programmer that i couldnt pass up ($250).

But just feel from the seat of the pants, it is an upgrade for sure and seems to have better throttle response! Im not sure but it seems that it runs at lower RPMs going doen the road?!?

I will update more as i have more seat time....the wife is getting the enjoy it more than me currently.

Can you actually change the trans shifts? Firm up? RPM changes etc. Have you done it and what are the results. Always thought these trans shift a little soft and slow when you stomp on er.

Why would you need to reprogram for the new gears considering you put bigger tires on and you are just going for the same overall ratio that you had before? Sorry but it sounds like your "buddy" saw you coming, giving you a $250 deal on something you didn't really need... I could be wrong, but just curious....
