Just installed a programmer
the programer changed the hp curve and tq curve to make it SEEM like you are getting more than just 10 and 19, with the 93 tune is more like 30hp 30Tq to the rear, or at least thats with the dynos they provided on the 09 with and without a tune by VMP and PHP. I really cant tell any more or less HP with the 87 tune but the response and the shifting is SOOOOOOOO much better it makes it seem like I put a new engine in it. Thats just me. The 93 tune is a good bit quicker and all. However, just like anything you will get used to it because its only 30 hp not that big of a deal. I drove mine on the 93 tune for 4 months then went back to the 87 and to be honest I like the 87 better.
Why would you need to reprogram for the new gears considering you put bigger tires on and you are just going for the same overall ratio that you had before? Sorry but it sounds like your "buddy" saw you coming, giving you a $250 deal on something you didn't really need... I could be wrong, but just curious....
Well he said that when he put new gears in a 2009 FX4 it would turn on a dummy light (like ABS or something?), so they had to update the gears in the computer. Either way, i bought it for the little power, possible gas gain, and being able to change the tire size. If I had to change the gearing in the computer when i do change my gears, then i got a great deal for that price.
Im not sure if you can individually change the trans shift point, I can look into it and see...I do know that the shop did a custom tune and the shift point are different, i just dont know how they changed them.
I did get to drive it to work this morning and loved it, very responsive! Cant wait to get new gears to really tell teh difference!
