Default jba vs gibson headers..read!

Hey all i just went through an interesting experience with putting headers on my 2010 f150 that i figured i would share and warn everyone about that may have an interest in headers on their truck.
I recently developed the warped stock manifold exhaust leak that was probably introduced a little earlier than normal because of my blower putting some extra heat to to engine.
So i figured if im gana go through the hell of changing the manifolds, i may as well do some new headers with thicker stainless flanges that i hopefully never hafta worry about warping again.
The only two options i had considered were jba or gibsons. The jba seemed to be a more popular choice so i went with these.
Once i recieved the jba headers, i could not believe the **** poor quality and craftsmanship of these. They had 3 huge dents in the header tubes "for bolt clearance". The welds werent the cleanest and they only sent 3 of the 16 header bolts! I called up JBA and they said this is all how its supposed to be! I told him it looked like poor craftsmanship if thats all they could design for a 600 dollar set of headers. They also said im only supposed to replace three header bolts in certain spots and reuse all the old studs for the remaining holes. This was the most obsurd BS ive ever heard especially when their add says, "all premium hardware includeded". The guy at jba had no valid explanation for any of this and pretty much just said thats the way it is.
So I ordered the gibson headers(which were cheaper).
They showed up yesterday and the quality of the gibsons was amazing compared to the jba. I had all 16 bolts, no dents, and excellent clean weld quality.

Im never one to get on here and bash a company, but i couldnt get my truck running in time to use it for the weekend because of this and it really set me off!

So i figured i could at least warn others so they dont have to go the hassle of what i did. I have some pictures below of the jba and then the gibsons to show what im talkin about.

I don't call that bashing. I call it: "Giving an honest review"!
Good info to hear & anyone who's on the fence to make a decision, this info will help them make a decision. Plus adding the pics to back up what you experienced is a great help too.
Some may experience the same, or possibly the opposite experience? But that's what we're here for - to help fellow F150 guys.
Thanks for the info & sharing.

Jba customer service kind of stinks to, I emailed them about there f150 ecoboost exhaust and they never emailed me back. I have there exhaust on my ranger. It was a pain to install but the best sounding v6 I have ever heard. Since they don't respond to customers I won't even consider buying another. No doubt those Gibsons look so much better then the jba.

So, please do a followup post after those Gibsons are installed. My only prior experience on Fords was with JBA shorties on '90 Bronco 5.8 and '91 Mustang 5.0L - neither install was simple but not particularly difficult either. IIRC, JBA offered nickel plating then which held up well and turned blue-gold after numerous heat cycles. Those Gibsons are pretty but are they chrome over nickel? If not, might peel after awhile. In any case, I'm leaving my 6.2L stock...

I got the drivers side installed last night, tonight will be the other. This job is def a test of ur patience because of bolt acces. Driver side went on smoothly and seems to clear everythint very nice.

I had Gibson headers and full catback on my 6.0 Chevy for 90K miles and they were great, loud, but great. Just make sure you retorque them a couple times for the first 5K miles.

awesome! i cant wait to hear them, the rest of the exhaust is stock, which is what i want. I dont like having too much drone and rumble to where i cant hear my charger whine. And im not worried about every ounce of power. The charger is putting plenty of power out for me.

Default Gibson headers cracked!Customer service horrible!

Several cracks at the welds!
I purchased Gibson GP218 headers about 3 years ago and 28000 miles later for my 2005 F150 5.4 3v. Both of these headers developed several cracks at the welds. I called for a warranty claim since they have a limited lifetime warranty. Mike at the company, stated that these headers were cheap and inferior for my truck. He stated that the only thing that he could do was to upgrade me to the stainless headers and charge me the cost of the new headers. I understand that I should be responsible for some of the cost of the upgrade. I tried to negotiate, however, they didn't entertain any price. Price is the price I was told. Upper management said the same thing. In the meantime, my truck is at a local mechanics business up on the rack taking the place of what could be future customers for this business. I explained this to them and they didn't seem too concerned about that as they shipped my new headers only FedEx ground and charged me the shipping! I explained to Victoria again that my truck is tied up at the shop for two weeks, they didn't care. They stated that the new headers would be shipped out on Friday, then they said Monday. I received an email late Monday from the company stating that the headers would be now shipped out on Tuesday with an apology and no offer of express shipping! Never again! Ridiculous!

I don't know why you guys think a $300 header is somehow going to be a quality product that is going to last... American Racing, Kooks, Stainlessworks, or don't bother.
