That's slick looking buddy! I was thinking of putting one in that area as well but not sure how the visibility would be from the drivers seat

Ya I didn't really put it in for the driver's use. I have it in there so the passenger can control the music and stuff

Yes. USB2. To make it come on when the key is inserted you must download activator from cydia. You then set it up so it turns on and goes to the home screen when it starts receiving power. Then when it stops receiving power, it goes into sleep mode.

I used some super strong double sided stip. really thin stuff but it was incredibly sticky. And then you will notice, when fitting the pieces back together, the panels bind the iPod/iPhone in there really tight. So technically I didn't need any double sided stuff or anything. It kinda locks itself in there. Most of this mod/project is really easily learned as you go. I didn't really prepare or have any idea what was physically required when I approached it. I did however have my iPhone with the proper software all ready to go. If any of you feel intimidated by the project, I suggest to take apart a few of your panels (carefully of course) and just see what it looks like back there. That's what really helped me. Other than that, it was just getting the device to physically fit and sit where you want it. Good luck

Dude, that's awesome. I put an iPod touch I'm both spots now, so one if for my OBD hookup and always displays the gauges I want while the other is for music. Great write up as well!

I was feeling great about this project until now...it won't stop indexing so I can use voice commands which is the entire point. It works fine with my iPhone 4S but not the iTouch 1g 3.1.3. I took fuse out of sync...still no luck. Any suggestions? But it looks sick!
