iPod / sync issue
'14 STX Sport
Basic radio, w/ Sync
Older iPod touch
Normally my radio has no issue playing the iPod through the USB2. However, all day it would not connect and default to "SYNC Line-in" and not recognize that the iPod was connected.
The iPod is charging but not showing up. I reset my iPod and still nothing.
Ideas?!

I suggest trying a master reset: http://owner.ford.com/sync-technolog...ter-reset-sync Remove the USB before starting the reset.
Let me know how it goes.

Disconnect the battery for a few mins. Or while ur radio/sync is on pull fuse 2 from the fuse panel on the passenger side for a few mins. Then turn key off then insert the fuse back in and start ur truck. U will need to re conect ur ipod. My Bluetooth would not come on and I read somewhere here that removing the fuse resets it. Doing a master rest through sync didn't do **** for me only removing the fuse. I have a 2013 f 150, so I am not sure if the fuse no. Are different on a 2104. Just look for the sync fuse and pull it.

Reason I asked is that SYNC v.4.4 update broke the USB2 , and any troubleshooting USB2 issue with that update is a waste of time.
But since you do not have it, carry on
If Master rest, battery or fuse power cycle does not work, it's probably the iPod. Try plugging into USB1 with a different cable to see if it works. My guess is it won't.
In case it does work, you probably have a bad cable.
If as I suspect it does not work, it's probably a corrupt service running on the iPod, a reset usually fixes that, but you said you have tried that already.
Try the reset a couple of more times, sometimes it take a couple of resets to fix the issue.
If however after a couple of resets you are still having the issue, the file might actually be corrupt in the firmware on the iPod itself. You will have to restore it from you backup to fix it. A restore will reinstall the firmware and load your backup. Remember, if it does go this far, remember to back it up first.
Good luck,

I'll try the reset again tomorrow.
Daniejw,
Just disconnect the iPod. I don't suggest disconnecting the battery or any fuse without first consulting with your dealer.
Keep me posted.

Oh no, you better not remove a fuse or disconnect a battery without your dealerships permission! You'll void your warranty or worse possibly fix your own problem saving yourself money!! Proceed with caution.
Have you tried different wires on your iPod? Also try swapping the usb 1 and usb 2 (where you did the mod) wire see if the problem follows
