iPhone 7 MySync Problems
Morning -
I recently bought a used 2013 FX4 and the My Sync and my iPhone 7 and have me scratching my head a bit.
The MySync paired quick and easy to my iphone and I thought all was peachy till I tried to make a call. I can hear the other person fine through the cars audio but they can't hear me. I have tried calling through the MySync and my iphone but both have the same problem. I have to switch my phone to speaker for people to hear me.
I checked the Ford site and it says my MySync is up to date but I was wondering if anyone knew a trick or knew what I was doing wrong. My wife has a 2013 explorer with the same MySync and no problems with her 7, so I would think I should be fine as well.
Any help would be great.

First, we need to clarify if you have Sync or MyFordTouch (MFT). If you have a touchscreen in the dash. it's MFT. If you just have voice controls with the little display above the radio controls, it's Sync.
I've never used MFT, so I can't comment on that, but if it's just Sync, then this sounds a lot like the problem some people were having with the basic Sync on version 4.6. I had that problem with my Windows Phone, and the only solution I found was to reinstall 4.4. I've since gotten an iPhone 7, upgraded Sync to 4.6, and it's working fine (at least I don't have to pull fuse #2 when Sync goes deaf). I don't know if the affected iPhone users ever found a solution.
Rebooting the APIM (the module that is Sync) might help. If you're running 4.6, you can try the REBOOT SYNC option under SYSTEM SETTINGS -> Advanced. Otherwise, you'll have to pull fuse #2 in the fusebox behind the kick panel on the passenger side.

Also try unplugging either the sync fuse or just unplugging the battery for 30 minutes. Might also be a good time to do a KAM reset anyway, unhook negative cable and put a jumper cable from negative to positive cable to reset all adaptive learnings.

If pulling fuse #2 didn't solve the problem, it's unlikely that disconnecting the battery will do it--pulling the fuse disconnected the APIM from power, which is all disconnecting the battery would do to the APIM. (I forget what APIM stands for, but it's the module that is Sync.)
A trip to the dealer is probably in order here. The only other thing that leaps to mind is doing a master reset of Sync; it's a menu option on the base Sync, but I don't know how you'd do it on MFT.
