Not really true because my phone DOES stream music via USB, it's just that I have to use voice commands to get to that point.

I've had the iPhone 5 since launch and have not had any bad experience. Flawless thus far..

I've heard the same but I haven't tried it. Apple's listing for the 30 pin adaptor says nothing about sound but does say it won't support video. As mentioned above, I believe the sound still works.
I wonder if its the controls on the head units that won't work. Has anyone just used the iPhone's player controls?

I found this as well on my 4. What it was, was if I had just watched a video or used one of the social media apps such as YouTube or those video sharing ones, the iPhones player is still set on them. You can check by bringing up the multitask list and swiping to bring over the player controls. The app in cache will be showing there.

I'm gonna have to try this. I was in a hurry and just noticed that the USB wouldn't pass the sound. I'll try to mess with it this afternoon.

I have never, from day 1, been able to get my truck to go to the usb port without having to tell it via voice command (using ipods and iphone 4s)

The iPhone 5 and any iPhone w/ iOS 6 should be able to stream music via Bluetooth with music data being shown on the navi screen. Not working yet cause of some Apple. Sync issues that neither Apple or Ford will address.

I tried this with up upgraded iPad to no avail. Bluetooth streaming was just as limited as the iPhone 4S with iOS 5 (meaning you have to tell the iphone what song to play or just next/previous, since Sync can't control over bluetooth).

To the other user that said it is easier to use Bluetooth, not sure what setup he has, but Bluetooth is terrible compared to plugging in the cable. Not sure on sound quality, but you can't tell it what to play at all. Very annoying unless you like using Siri.

Sync can control the iPhone over bluetooth just fine. I've been doing it since they rolled out AVRCP for iPhone.

I have the iPhone 5 and had the 4 and 4s. They all perform exactly the same with Sync with no change at all. It will play over USB and bluetooth with steering controls working just fine.

What do you mean "control"? I can play music, and skip the song or go to the previous song, but I cannot tell sync to play an artist when using Bluetooth. I can use Siri to do this, and then use forward/back to navigate songs for that artist, but I cannot tell Sync to play anything, only Siri (and on that note, I cannot activate Siri without pressing my iPhone button).

Are you seeing different behaviour?
