Default Interchangeable Clusters

Hello Everyone, i have finally purchased my first truck. I currently have a 2011 f150 xlt (xtr model) v6 ecoboost

and i want to change my instrument cluster from the basic blah look to the one with the lcd screen on it. I am curious to know which one i can install in there. For example can i take one from a 2012 f150 and install it in mine? I know i need the steering wheel buttons with the directional pad....but will it work.

Please....any help would.be appreicated. Thank you!!

Subscribed. I want to do the same. I have zero fancy options not even Sync so I am hoping I can just do a straight swap. I have seen some people say it worked fine and others a handful of options wouldn't work.

Yeah man i am going crazy trying ti figure this out. Honestly even if i could get the one from the same year i dont seem why i can just change it out. I did link up with a company and they said that it has to be interchangeable with the ID from the cluster....still doesnt make sense at all. But i hate mine... unfortunatley this one was all i could afford but its still a nice truck for the most part.

I have a 13 STX. I put in a cluster from a 14 XLT. Plug and play. No issues. I don't know which years interchange. I talked to an online salvage yard. They knew. You might check with a local salvage yard.

its an easy process. i bought a cluster for my truck off of ebay, i only waited about 2k miles so that my current milege matched the one on the new cluster, as for the options, you can enable or disable with forscan. just try to find one that has the same or similar options as your truck.

Yeah it'll work, you may need to write some changes with Forscan if one has options yours does or does not have like 2 or 4wd etc. You'll know as soon as you fire it up if any warnings pop up.

You'll likely also have to erase and program all your keys as well.

I know on the 15+ thread, forscan can increase the mileage (will not decrease it). I don't know if that works on the 11-14 f150's but worth a shot. Maybe up the mileage by 1 mile and see if it works.

Where do i purchass a forscan? Or is this something that a dealer does. I apologize for all the queations but honestly i cant stand looking at my dash cluster. I am going to grab one tonight from a 2013 same model and options. I also ran the vin i found that the options and specs are all identical to my truck just the mileage was a few thousand off....which i dont mind. So you still think i may have to still forscan it?

Forscan is free software, you need a Windows tablet or laptop and a USB/OBDII pass thru cable to use it. See the sticky thread in this section dedicated to Forscan for more information.

You will still likely need to reprogram keys as the donor cluster will have a different VIN#
