I can see when backing now - Reverse HIDs
So as we all know, nighttime visibility while backing stinks. I'm not a big fan of adding auxiliary lights under the bumper as I'd scrape them off. I've been researching HIDs for replacement. I know lots of guys say they aren't worth it due to warm up but after having HIDs installed in my headlights, fog lights, and 4 lights behind my grille, I haven't had any issues when it comes to warm up times... At least on the 35w heads/fogs. My others r 55w, which take a few seconds longer to warm up.
So, since DDMs HIDs r so inexpensive, I decided to spend the $35 and try it. I bought H1s since they are basic and the base isn't to large. I put it in the indent for the rev lights and siliconed them in.... Yes I said silicone... Some may not like that but it's easy and since not much is needed, it would be easy to scrape off if needed. So anyways, I then connected the hot wire of the hid harness to the gry/prpl wire on the factory plug. The ground went to the other wire. (if u plug them in opposite, they don't work.. Pretty easy to figure out. I used terminals and taped them into the oem harness plug so I didn't have to cut any wiring. Then tucked the ballasts into the fender well behind the light.
They work awesome. The warm up time is slight... By the time u turn around in the seat or position ur eyes in ur mirrors, they r already much much brighter than oem.
The pics i have aren't great but I'll take some more tonight when it gets darker.
The 2nd pic is thru the rear window stained the back wall of my garage.

I think that's a great idea. I'm starting my conversion to HID's, installing them in my fogs as soon as the package arrives, going to wait on the headlights till I get projectors. Never thought about reverse lights, my tinted windows make backing up fairly difficult, sounds like a good solution.
