How are heated mirrors activated ?
I have a 2012 lariat with the max tow package.
The mirrors are the manual telescoping ones.
Today there was some light snow on the mirrors and I figured the heated mirrors would take care of it. But after 10 minutes it was still there.
How do you activate the heat fuction ? Or is it supposed to come on automatically ? The outside temp was 33°F.
Thanks,
Bean

Yeah, it's amazing how much good stuff is in the Owner's Guide. But Ford needs to hire an editor that can do a better job of making things easier to find. For example, how do you find out details of the electric locking rear axle? It's not in the index or the table of contents. Mine is a 4x2, and I never even dreamed that the editors would hide it the 4x4 section. But there it is.
One good thing available in the Owner's Guide is the procedure for turning off the seat belt dinger. Mine has now been turned off.

only separate on those trucks that didn't have rear defrost, which not many had rear defrost back then. But 04-up Lariat with the solid rear window had rear defrost and there was just one button for heated mirrors/rear defrost.
Mine doesn't have rear defrost and it is on a separate switch on the heater panel

I'd assume that it is probably the same button and wiring. Just a different pictograph and labeling.
