Default HID install question

I installed a 6000K Hid light kit in my 2010 FX2. When the truck is off the lights work fine, but when I start the engine they begin to flicker almost like a strobe. I upgraded the fuses and still the same problem. Could both ballasts be bad? Please help thanks in advance.

Maybe what you need is a relay harness...

The ballst are fine. You need a relay harness. I had the same issue with my truck. Once I put in the relay they worked fine.

When I bought mine I talked to the DDM rep and he said that the 35W version (either the raptor or slim) should not (and he made emphasis on _should not_) need a relay harness unless you buy the H13 Hi/Lo bulbs.

But hey, you know vendors... I got the Hi/Lo that includes the harness relay anyway.

Maybe it has nothing to do with it but do you have daytime running lights? If so try turning them off.

I have DRL and HID's. No problems. It is the 55w Hi/Lo kit with the relay!

You "upgraded" your fuses? You mean you put fuses rated in excess of the designed current load on the circuit?

I will try the relay harness. Thanks. @Gatorb8 didn't mess with the circuit I was attempting different ideas so I tried a direct connect to the battery with an in-line fuse but had same issue. Thanks for all the feedback keep u posted
