Default Help with Plug n play remote start!!!!

I installed this kit on my vehicle and did the programming to the key. I can get the doors to lock and unlock with the new key but it will not start the vehicle by turning the key manually. Does that need some sort of other programming to start the vehicle by actually using the key?

Thanks in advance for the help

Chris

It shouldn't. Since you programmed it to unlock and lock, it should start the truck also. I just installed that same kit.

Weird. What key do you actually put into the ignition? The new key or one of the old keys when programming? When I try to start the truck it says starting system fault in red on the dashboard. I guess maybe I'm not programming the key correctly possibly.

This exactly^ or any independent shop or Ford tech that has IDS. I can activate it. Greater New Orleans area. I charge $50.

lol just checking, you'd be amazed sometimes. So you're key will lock and unlock with the remote, it will not start by turn key, and I'm assuming it wont start with the remote start due to starting by turn key is a necessary first step to set that up if I remember correctly. Is this correct?

*Edit ah for the ford keys you may actually need to go to the dealer for this.

I understand that the dealership still has to enable the remote start. No the vehicle will not start right now just by trying to push the remote start buttons because I haven't taken it there yet to enable it. I thought at least it should still start by turning the key over manually though. That's what I'm looking for right now is the answer to that.

Yes, you might still need the Dealer for that as well. Key's aren't just keys anymore. Not sure of the language, but iI think there is an electronic handshake as well before it allows the key to start the truck. I remember having to do this for my 2010 Mazda 3.
