Yes I have both factory keys that work. Like I said I did it and the new remote will lock and unlock the vehicle it just won't start it. When I turn the new key over in the ignition it comes up on the dashboard

Looks like it may be the key I got. I ordered it off of ebay for $25. Just did some research and others have had the same issue with the cheap knock off keys. I didn't know this prior to ordering it. Lesson learned I guess

Did you buy the truck new or used?

Correct. Just to enable remote start.

There is another possibility, a lot of times people will have a lock smith clone a key so there are two. The issue with that is the trucks PATS will only see 1 key electronically. Both keys will start the truck but you won't be able to program any new keys. Only fix for that is to erase all keys from the system and program them all, here comes IDS.

Does it do that with all trim levels? My XLT has the manual dials, not sure if that's different on the higher models.

It would be handy, but one you make a habit of just turning the heat up before you get out of the truck, it's a non point.

All 2011-2014 have the electronic climate controls, they just put ***** in to make it look manual, not sure why they did that. The ***** are on a control board that sends your inputs to the BCM just like the touch screen does.

So if you have a 2011 and up, the OEM (new series 100 or modular system) remote start fictions will be accessible thru the dash screen (even on the two line green display) and will let you set how you want the climate system to work with it.

I was thinking the same thing as I encountered that same issue when I tried to install the OEM remote start in my 2010 Mustang. Ended up buying a new key and having the dealer program it.

Or it could just be a bad key from eBay, hard to tell.
