Default Help with freaking sync 4.6!

Alright, my last car, a 2010 Taurus had a couple of Sync updates and they both happened without a hitch, and greatly improved the experience. My current 2013 XLT with the 4.2 inch MyFord system was SUCH a downgrade, and the Sync site has said that my system was up to date with the 4.1 until just barely, when it decided to offer 4.6. Downloaded and tried to install, and it says "Installation in Progress". I sat there for FORTY MINUTES with my f***ing truck idling my gas away, and nothing changed at all. Finally I just got sick of it, shut the truck off, waited another 10ish minutes while it kept displaying "installation in progress", until I had had enough. I don't have the time or patience to wait for something that might not even be happening! Unplugged the USB and went on with my life, until the next time I got in my truck and started it up, and instantly that damn "installation in progress" pops back up, even with the USB out. I seriously wanted to drive the stupid thing off a cliff. It's ridiculous to me that I hate a perfectly good truck so much just because of the entertainment system. HOW HARD CAN IT BE TO WRITE SOME FUNCTIONAL SIMPLE CAR AUDIO SOFTWARE?? I understand that the installation might take some extra time if updating from 4.1 directly to 4.6, but almost an hour of waiting is just too long for me to have hope that it will eventually work.

Hi 'MURICA,

Sorry to hear that you're having such a difficult time. I'd like to help! Are you using an Apple or Windows computer?

Shaay,

Sorry about the frustration, it was a long day, and that just really put me over the edge. I still have had no luck and have just given up and kept using Sync the way it came right from the factory. I'm on a Windows computer running Windows 10. The downloaded folder contains three files - install.lst, autoinstall.lst, and the folder SyncMyRide. The USB drive is completely empty and formatted in FAT32, so frankly I feel the problem has to be with the updated files that Ford has provided. Something just isn't working quite right. At the moment I'm just happy that the whole thing didn't mess up my Sync system completely and I can still listen to music, even without the metadata and having to switch to Bluetooth every time I get in the truck. If I'm doing something wrong, it'd be great to know what to do differently. If not, then I'd really appreciate an updated and working file soon. My friends are always giving me crap because Sync is so bad, and I keep telling them it'll get updated soon, but alas, so far no luck for me.

Thanks for reaching out.

No worries, 'MURICA. I understand your frustrations. Send a DM with your VIN; I'd like to look into your software.

most for sometimes over an hour of screwing around. 1/2 minimum wage at best

Gotta hate Flatrape pay under Ford's SLTS. I escaped 12 years ago. Here's hoping you escape soon.

Default How hard can this be?!?!?!

Thought I was the only one that this has happened to. I have tried multiple thumb drives, with both Windows and OS X computers. At this point, I am just going to stick with what I have, and hope the next one works out better. Or maybe I should go with an aftermarket radio...
