Default Headlights not working??

I just bought a 2013 f150 Lariat and, correct me if I'm wrong but, shouldn't the headlights be on when the switch is in the vertical position; the symbol indicated as such-(O) The only lights that are on are the amber "running lights" and the taillights.. For example when I turn the vehicle on (night or day) and, it's running, the headlights remain off. In order for headlights to work I have to turn the switch clockwise to one of the other positions.. My former truck(2004), I never touched the headlight switch at all, as they automatically just came on...

I bought the vehicle in a different city and would feel kind of dumb going to my city's dealership asking this question so I thought I'd see if I could find the answer here..thanks

The "O" setting is off, if you turn the switch to the right to the auto position then they will automatically come on and you won't have to play with the switch.

On mine vertical is off, one position clockwise is parking lights, two positions is headlights, third (horizontal) position is auto, I pull the switch towards me for fogs.

Thanks a lot . So I assume then that I can just leave it on auto and the lights eventually go off and won't drain the battery?

Yup that's correct. You can also setup an auto delay off also in your dash if you wanted
