Default Headlight Mods

I may get called some bad names for bringing this up but...the hi beams on these trucks SUCK. Low beams are good and switching to hi beams leaves you wondering where the light went.
Has anyone tied into the headlight circuit and done a voltage measurement with the headlights on and compared it to battery voltage?
Basicly done a voltage drop test through the headlight circuit.
Has anyone wired in relays to get full battery voltage to the headlights?
Anyone have a p/n for the female end of a 9008 bulb connector to install relays and not cut the factory harness?
I'm about to do something about lights but I'll start with the basics first.
Then maybe driving lights or HID retro fit or factory HID headlights.

People will just tell you to get a HID retrofit or OEM HIDs no matter what. They say its the only "Proper Way"
But i agree completely my low beans are better because i can use my fog lights all the time, Compared to my crappy high beams.

The High beams on the 2013 HID headlights are awesome. The low beams are good, but the high beams light everything up! Just sayin...

i had a buddy of mine who worked in car audio for 30 years totally rewire my headligts & fogs. he added fuses and relays. then installed piaa bulbs in all locations.. huge difference! also dropped the aim down a bit and that really helped with the high beams as well..

sorry i cant help u more on the technical side.. this is just one of many vehicles hes upgraded the lighting for me. he did tell me the factory wiring was very poor.

Any HID or retrofit upgrade you do will consist of a relay and only using the factory wiring for the signal, so you essentially would just be doubling your work if you did that now and plan on doing that type of upgrade in the future.

The retrofits, 13 HID upgrades etc, all use a harness and relay that get power direct from the battery, a solid ground, and only the factory wiring harness is used for the signal to fire that relay.

Not worth the time and money involved to upgrade factory wiring if you plan on doing a retrofit or 13 HID upgrade in the future, in my opinion.

search ebay for headlight booster or painless performance... I have not used one on the fords, but on 2002 GMC they make a world of difference in brightness also giving it 4 lights on with highbeams (2 hi-2lo beams)... combine with high output bulbs like Nighthawk and you will be impressed.

I agree, the Phillips Xtremes are better, not perfect, but better.

Thanks for the input everyone
I'll start with the relays and fuses. That will be the base for any future mods anyway. Keep those ideas coming
