Default Headers

I looked for a good sticky or something related to this but no dice.

I have flowmasters on my 2010 Platinum already, its a 5.4L. I never would have cared about headers but it appears my stock exhaust manifolds have rotted through and its starting to sound like ****.

Anyone have any luck with any particular headers for this truck? I'm guessing this is going to run me about $2000 installed.

I'll be following this...my exhaust looks virtually new with the exception of my headers. They look like they're about toast. Not sure why...

Are you looking at Long Tubes or Shorty's? I don't have experience with headers on the 5.4, but I do with the 5.0. Stainless Works and ARH are top notch and would really only consider them for headers. I have ARH and the fit is spot on. Long Tubes is the way to go as far as performance goes. If you are just wanting to replace the manifolds and keep the emissions intact then you could do the shorty route, but performance and sound will not really be affected. The one problem these 5.4's do have when removing the manifolds is the manifold studs are known for breaking in the head when removing. I would only use OEM gaskets, studs, and nuts when fastening the new headers though. Just my opinion though

FWIW, I have a 2005 with a 5.4 and have stainless steel Gibson shorties. I like them.

Thanks guys, I will have to look into it. The leaky OEM ones are getting on my nerves.
