As is also noted in my post signature, this thread is for model 2014. That notice does not mention 2014.

Default 9 months and waiting

June 2023; I have been waiting for a lead frame replacement for my 2012 (under the service bulletin=the criteria) since last September. Has anyone received one recently, or have they stopped producing them? Perhaps I should just scrap my F150, and never buy a Ford product again.
Dealership here in town seems to be trying, Ford head office customer service doesn't seem to give a darn, don't even respond to emails.

Two weeks ago wrench light flashes and airbag light goes on truck goes into limp mode. Drive home. Shut off truck and restart. No issues until tonight. Driving and truck won't shift for like a mile

Gonna head to the dealer on Tuesday and ask about the lead frame

2014 F150 FX4 4x4 171k miles

So i've been having weird issues with my truck for the past 10k miles or so with shifting. I noticed it happened after i decided to do a trans fluid change for what was probably the first time on the truck when it had a little over 150k on it. I was getting on the highway for thanksgiving and all the sudden the same thing happened to me like everyone else has said. The truck started shuddering and it dropped down into a low gear and gave me the wrench symbol, the miles showed dashes. i got the classic P0720 and P0722 when i was able to limp about 15 miles back home. To put a little more detail into it when i was getting on the highway i noticed the shuddering like it was a misfire or something in the engine which i am also getting a code for out of no where (P0304 and P0316). The whole time i was limping home it felt like there was a misfire in the engine...weird. I never tried turning the truck off and back on to see if things cleared. I have seen in the forums people having issues with misfiring after this happens for some reason. I also heard what i can only explain as 2 loud thumps under the truck right before the code flashed. Im guessing that was the truck maybe shifting down? I hope it wasnt something breaking in there.

Im not going to bother with a dealership and that headache. I am going to make some calls tomorrow (today is thanksgiving) and get the lead frame and swap it out and see what happens. seems like a messy job that can be gone in a couple hours by someone in their garage. Im guessing when i did that trans fluid change it left metal in the frame connectors and started creating issues. I hope thats what it is anyway. Sucks having to buy all that fluid after just changing it 25k ago or so. Like i said i have been having weird issues with it not feeling right since then.

Ok I will try to keep you posted haha

Not much traffic in this thread lately. This was the first thread that came up when searching for P0720.

2014 F150 3.5 Eco with 120k miles. I picked this truck up recently and had an issue with the speedometer being inaccurate. In looking at the carfax report I noticed that the selling dealership had replaced the tires just before I bought it, so I checked tire sizes. Sure enough, the tires they put on are 33", and the stock tires were 32". I actually noticed this while demoing the truck for the weekend before purchase. Dealership agreed to fix that and it was written into the contract. Two weeks later when they were able to get it into their shop (low priority on non-paying jobs) and they were able to reprogram the speedometer. About 30 miles after that I got some of the symptoms described in this thread, wrench symbol, no speedometer, mileage went to dashes, and no data in the gauge cluster at all. But the truck continued to otherwise function normally. It didn't down shift and did not go into limp mode.

When I got back home I cleared the trouble code and disconnected the battery to let the system discharge. After about 30 minutes I reconnected the battery. On my drive to work this morning the truck ran fine, with no indication of any trouble. My question here is can reprogramming the speedometer cause a code P0720, or am I doomed to taking it back to the dealership? My truck is a 2014, so it wouldn't be covered under Ford's extended warranty even though it only has 120k miles, but I did purchase an extended warranty so this should be a covered issue.

Activity is split, this thread has more recent activity.

If it's a Ford dealership, see if they can pull service records and see if the lead frame was ever replaced. It has probably had the reprogram done that would stop it from downshifting to 1st, but the rest of those symptoms sound like lead frame.

Do you keep the current gear showing on the display at all times?

Thanks, I'll take a look at the other thread. Yes, current gear is on the display all the time.
