So if Continental isn't making any at the moment the backorder number will grow by close to 1000 per month

2014 with ~125kmiles. Intermittent tranny issues, then a few days later wrench icon, went away next day shifting wildly. Mech confirms lead frame issue. 17k unit backlog or ebay refurb are my options. Unfortunately I need transportation. Anyone want to join my class action?

I recently replaced my molded lead frame on 2011 f150 5.0 fx4. Since replacement, I cant get the temp to transmission under control. Wants to overheat. I didn't have a thermostatic bypass valve so I'm guessing it is inline on cooling lines. I have checked trans fluid while at temp and running. I also have a hard shift from 1st to second gear. Any ideas?

You should probably start your own thread, you've also not provided enough details here.

1) There is a thermostatic valve above the valvebody you removed to replace the lead frame.
2) Did you follow the fordtechmakuloco video to replace it?
3) You never mentioned what your trans fluid temp was.
4) What fluid did you refill with?
5) What was the reported temperature when you checked the level?
6) What level on the dipstick did you use to set the level?

Sometimes I notice the airbag light of all things too. Near as I can tell, checks all the boxes for the leadframe.

Problem is, it's not throwing any codes. Maybe a ****ty OBD II sensor? It picked up an O2 sensor issue, so I know it works, at least to an extent. Talked to a dealer a week ago, they confirmed that the 2014 is not included in the 09-13 recall thing. Took it to an independent (and very well regarded) transmission shop. They couldn't get any codes either, and the guy who drove it couldn't replicate the issue. Well, yeah, I can't replicate it driving it for a few days at a time either, but then sure enough, it'll do it again. Seems completely random. The tech recommended a new battery (which I needed, and my cranking amps have definitely gone up) because of possible low voltage in the computer. It didn't seem to help, though I have not experienced the hard downshift since.

My issue is I live 60 miles from the nearest dealer, so even in a best case, one-day repair, I've gotta plan ahead for this crap. Ideas? Thanks
Same issue. Also saw my airbag light come on. WTH?

2014 stx 5.0, just hit 90,000 miles and this weekend twice it dropped into 1st gear I assume, once driving low 50's and again the next day around 40mph. Only went in for a 1/4 second or so, just long enough to tach motor and chirp rear wheels. Waiting on a truck to tow it into a service shop.

Wrench icon did show up but quickly went away.

The question should be, has anyone NOT had issues with their lead frame? Are those people in the minority now?

Seriously, is every single 12th gen 6R80 trans in existence going to succumb to this failure eventually?

Do regular fluid changes done on schedule prevent it? That would be nice...

Got the "output shaft speed sensor" code. Took it to local Ford dealer. The molded lead frame part ($400 ish) is backordered to hell. They're holding a truck that's been waiting on the part for 8 months. There is an assembly which has that lead frame on it that is readily available. Of course, that assembly is $800 ish. Told them to order the assembly and fix it. Total with labor and tax is $2070.

Are you over mileage? you should be able to get them to pay for most of this, that charge to you is absurd.
