Default Glovebox Light

Hey All,
Anyone done an install of a glovebox light in a late model. A search of the forums bore no fruit (except viewing the frustration of me and others over the lack of said light).

Cheers,
-Patrick

The glove box is so small, even if they lit it w/ a single LED, you'd no longer be able to fit the OM in it.

I don't use the glove box too much, but I plant on making a custom light in the center console that kicks on when you open the lid (with a tilt switch)

+1 there. Why can't Ford have a bigger glovebox for more than the OM. Bonus points if the sucker was locking.

Not everyone has the flow through center console.

I just did this mod. It is not quite finished yet. I need to wait till it warms up a bit to complete wiring. Much better having some light in there now.

Looks nice, underdog. I have a couple of questions:
1. Is that from a kit, or an LED set-up engineered yourself?
2. Is it on a switch or constant on?
3. From where are you drawing power?

Cheers,
-Pat

Hey Pat,

1) The lights are strips of flexible led similar to the ones used in the mirror reflector mods. I used 2 of the 28" strips of leds that light up on the edges. They are different from the ones used in the reflector mod.
2) The switch is a normally closed micro switch I found at a local electronics depot. The lights are off when the console lid is closed. Works the same as the interior light switch when the door is opened.
3) The strip lights come with a battery which is what I am using currently. I was able to fit it in between the lid and inside cover when I put it all back together. I do plan to wire this for constant power from the lighter circuit if / and when it ever warms up...

Total cost was about $25 bucks.
