Default Freezing tailgate

Several times this year I've tried to open my tailgate and found it frozen shut. Yesterday I figured out that it's not the tailgate freezing, but rather my bakflip bedcover freezing to the tailgate.

Is there anything I can do to keep the cover from freezing to the tailgate? Yesterday I was able to run a key under it and break the ice, but I don't want to do that again and risk tearing up the seal on the cover.

Thanks.

I took the wife's hair drier to mine ford cover, lol learned not to park with the bed downhill on thawing days, or coming out of the carwash. I agree it sucks to not have access to your bed

Thats why men carry a pocket knife... Mine does this I unfold knife and slip it in and run it the length of the seal, woila 10 sconds.

Or buy a can of silicone spray from auto store and spray the snot out of both surfaces it may prevent the issue. Vaseline will leave a greasy residue the silicone spray does not.

Fluid Flim
You can find it in aerosol form at OReilly's and a few others. It's a lubricant and corrosion preventative. It also works well on keeping water out of seals, etc. Spray it on a sponge or old shop rag, wipe down the seal, and you should have less of an issue going forward.

Simple fix.... Wipe the Gasket down with silicone lubricant, most auto parts stores sell it!

I use Liquid Wrench Silicone Spray on all the door and tailgate gaskets and seals. Helps out with freezing rain and ice through the winter. Also helps out with annoying squeaks the rest of the year.

Yep. Use some sort of lubricant on the gasket. I froze mine shut on my chevy a few times. Once I had to take my knife to it to get in. It ruined the gasket.

Put some on a rag and wipe down the contact area with the tailgate and bed cover. Do your door gaskets as well. Has a lot of other uses as well.
