Default First upgrade

Just bought a 2010 F-150 Lariat with the 5.4L V8 and want to put in a cold air intake. How necessary, without any other change to stock parts, is tuning the engine after doing this? I do want to see the benefit of the part, but if I can avoid doubling to price in order to buy a tuner package as well it'd be great.

No need for a tuner. You will hear a difference immediately but as far as feeling a performance gain, not sure you will. It will be more responsive but that's about it.

If you are leaving everything else stock, a CAI is kind of a waste of money.

This.

The stock airbox is a better CAI than most aftermarket ones.

If you want your motor to whistle, get an EB. At least it has a productive whistle!

ill help you out. i too have a 2010 five foh. ive got an S&B cold air. its sealed from engine heat, pulls air in from both fender and from under it. you can add a ram air scoop that sucks in air from under the bumper. when it rains/snows etc theres a plug for the scoop so no worries. great sound it produces, has helped my fuel eco too
