Default Factory remote range

My new 2011 factory starter has terrible range. I have to come outside and hold the remote to my chin for it to work.

Does anyone have any tricks or tips to improve the range of these things?

And yes it's the single key remote.

An aftermarket doesn't look this good. Nor will it be able to interact with the on board computer like the factory one can.

looks.......hmmm or work........ no brainer for me.

i have a 2010 lariat with aftermarket ford bi directional 100 ...
i can start it inside walmart...... and remote blinks at me every 7 seconds letting me know its running...

i will keep mine even though i would like the key with lock remotes in it, but i will keep my seperate bi directional pad even if it dont look good or its an extra key pad.

not only does the remote let you know its running, but its longer range also

The range on the one i got with my 2010 isnt great all the time. Sometimes it wont work from 30 feet away and other times it will from 100 feet. I guess this doesnt help though sorry

I have a 2010 with the factory remote start, I posted on a different thread that I am able to operate mine from about 500 ft. How far away from your vehicle are you? I also find that in the click and hold mode, that performing the first click for a long time (aka: a few seconds) and giving a decent space inbetween of each does help.

Hmm. I'll try those tips and let you know. Right now I can get about 300' but I there is anything blocking the signal (like a brick wall) I only get about 100'

Anyone know if you can get the bidirectional remote for the standard module?

unfortuntly it has 2 remotes, which i am thinking about getting a new key with the remotes in it and have my remote start seperate, cause it does work a good distance.

I have a single remote for my aftermarket one, I can start, stop, lock, unlock.... and it's 2-way so if I can't see the truck, I'll know if it is locked, unlocked, running, etc... It has around 1,000ft range, sometimes more if conditions are right. I start it from inside my office at work when it's cold and/or snowing and then walk out 5-10 minutes later and walk quite a ways to it.
