What about on the 2011? I haven't seen anything in this truck that resembles an antenna.

Look at the rear view mirror it should be on the back of it. It will be a big black rectangle

Did not have a dealer do it. I had owned the truck for 6 months and had a local shop that does remote starts and security systems, etc... I do not recommend every having a best buy or similar do it though. Most aftermarket systems have 99% of their problems due to installation error and that is one way of ensuring you will have problems (going to best buy).

It's an Avital 5303 unit. Works pretty good. I don't remember the cost exactly but it was around $400 installed I think. It's one of those things you can get a lot cheaper somewhere and do it yourself, but you won't get a reliable warranty for when something might go wrong. In the past I've had little quirks with systems and most places will take care of it for nothing.

Most factory keyless entry systems are designed to work at a short range, as after all most people don't need to unlock their doors from 1000+ feet. Also prevents you from hitting the fob accidentally when your away from the vehicle. That being said, Ford (and others) should really work on their systems to give the OEM remote start units a similar range to the aftermarket starts. While its fine to only be able to lock and unlock from 30-100ft, that is very poor range for a start.

I second the Astro Start endorsement...they make great product, have lifetime warranty and if you get them installed by a reputable dealer, should provide you with years of trouble free use.

Avital is the big box version of Clifford or at least was last I worked in the industry.
