Default Exhaust

Im trying to decide which cat back exhaust I should go with. I'm leaning towards the flowmaster 817522 american thunder series. I had a super 40 on my silverado 5.3 and loved the sound, I'm thinking that my 5.0 would sound awesome but I dont want too much drone in the cab. Is anyone else running this or is there something better?

Just installed the Roush. Very easy to install. Loud with a deep tone. Drone isn't bad at all. Only 100 miles on it so far. Much different sound than flows

I have a Roush exhaust also, I absolutely love sound. Very deep throaty tone and it screams without having a raspy tone. It does have some drone at certain rpms, but I was expecting it from all the reviews I read on drone. It's not bad enough to where I wanna put a resonator on. I get tons of complements all the time when I go places. I will say when I took off the dual tip off just to see what it did for the drone. It took it about completely away! I put a single 4" slant rolled edge tip on and the drone came back. It looked incomplete without a tip and I missed hearing it bounce off buildings.

I have had nothing but great luck with the borla ATAK cat back. It is loud and has a little drone but so will every aftermarket exhaust. You can go on stage 3 motorsports website and see videos of all the exhaust sounds. If the ATAK is too loud for your tastes the type S is really cool. Also, the Borla exhausts look good.

Also, with the type S, that system now uses the ATAK muffler, with a resonator mounted upstream. If the S turns out to be too mild, remove the resonator. I wouldn't recommend doing that though, until a few thousand miles are on the system. The muffler is a packed type, and will "break in", giving you an even better sound. I have zero drone on mine, just a slight gurgle at expressway speeds, but jump on it, and you WILL hear it.
I only wish Borla had offered a system to dump on either side, instead of straight back, but for me, the Borla is perfect.
I had the Roush, absolutely hated it, and tried different combinations of mufflers on it to rid myself of the drone. Never succeeded, and wound up with the Borla.
BTW, take a look at the Roush muffler, it's identical to the resonator you already have, same dimensions, etc., except it says Roush on it. So, if you want noise, you could always just put a splitter some where downstream of your resonator, and run duals from there back. It would be a custom made system, but an idea at any rate.

I would also recommend the Solo Mach X Dual. Looks great, fits great, and sounds great. I would recommend anything really that uses a straight through style muffler really and stainless steel. Borla, Roush, or Magnaflow. In the end though it's up to you. Not saying Flowmaster's don't sound good or they are lesser quality, just an opinion.

Another Solo Mach X guy here. Really happy with it. Great daily driver exhaust that can open up when you step on it.

I had a muffer delete before my roush exhaust and they both sound totally different. The resonator exhaust had hardly any drone and the tone was kind of raspy and tinny at WOT, but it wasn't horrible sounding though. Roush kit it alot cleaner and deeper tone, but there is drone compared to the muffler delete. Seems to be resonator kits are they way to go with no drone. Did you S-type come with a borla resonator? If so thats a better route, the stock resonator is cheap.. Mine had soot around the crimps from leaking...
