Ok I got them to break loose. I only have done the passenger side and most of mine were .051-.054 and I am putting them at .045. I will finish the driver side tomorrow as it was getting to hard to see. Most of the plugs did not look that good to me for 23k miles on truck.

Did you use penetrant or just elbow grease to break them loose?

I seem to have lent out my spark plug socket so I put this off for another few days.

I just used elbow grease and a good pair of gloves on my hands so you don't cut or mash fingers. It will happen. When i looked down into the plug hole, cylinder it appears to look a golden color on top of pistons with some black residue on each. This is my passenger side.

Hey, Koolponycar how's the tune going and yeah takes a little effort to break them loose feels like the the factory torqued them at 100ftlb lol use a decent length ratchet and your good to go and dont forget the dielectric grease.

.045 if tuned go .044 if idle is still rough.

The tune seems to be running great now, I didn't notice any dielectric grease on the coils though, but I may replace all my plugs next week after I see how the new gap runs.

I will take a look at if the original install has any grease, if not then will not either.
By all means regap. I regapped from the .55-.59 range (where all of mine were at) to .50 on my original plugs and my MPG went from 16 to 18 city, when I first did this I did not use dielectric grease. I got cocky and decided to replace the plugs because I thought the originals looked dirty, new plugs at .50 and some grease up in the boot as suggested. I dropped to 14-15 city on premium. I thought must be a bad plug or some such and put the originals back in, still stuck at that.

Only guess is that somehow, even though it does not make sense, the dielectric grease caused problems. Mayhaps I did not use enough, but I used only a pea sized amount. I am also unable to fix it because once that grease is up in that spring, I don't think it will come out.

So if you must use grease I guess try to do the fix without putting it in and drive it a bit to see how it goes, then put some in later if you wanna see if it makes it better.

OK thanks. I did finish the driver side this morning and I did not use any grease and I can see what your talking about with the spring. My plugs on the driver side looked a little better and I think that may have to do with the passenger side having the PCV tube on that side with the valve that vents off pressure? I will drive it a little later as we have to go out and see how she runs!

Drove the truck to do a few errands and it seems to run really good and responsive. Drove about 45miles and mpgs were around 21-22 on interstate from 55-75 mph. My wife was with me and she even noticed it by making a comment and i didn't even say anything to her. Still on 87 tune and it is pretty snappy now. I will continue to check it and report if anything negative happens.

Trying to see when I have time to do them, we are having some work done on our house so space is limited along with time.
