Default electrical problems galore..

i just turned over 40,000 miles on my 2012 lariat with the 5.0. On my way back from work with a coworker the entire truck shut off, lost power, decellarated (sp) and then turned back on like nothing happened. over the course of the next few weeks strange things, like the drive window not going down, cruise not turning on, and the worst of all when i would turn the truck off, it wont turn back on or acts like the battery is dead, then poof, back on like nothing happened. all the other problems can be solved by turning the truck off then back on. anyone else had anything like this happen?

btw, the dealer said they couldnt do anything unless it does that for them, too.

its just pissing me off at this point, to the point where i want to trade it in for a new xlt or a sierra.

someone mentioned it could be the battery or alternator, but how could the battery cause just the windows to not work until the truck is turned off then back on again??

sounds more like a computer problem then a battery or alternator. check to make sure all your fuses are pushed in tight and not loose. i have heard of that problem before.

I have had similar problems. The truck died like you said a couple of times on my wife. Dealer or myself could not replicate it. Then I had a problem with it telling me the door was ajar when it wasn't. Also the panic alarm would go off for no reason at all, making me have to sleep with my keys so I could shut it off. Kept bringing it back to the dealer and eventually they ended up changing the computer. Luckily I had it on record that the problems started before the warranty ran out so it was done on fords dime.

kajun, just a thought here. I may be the one ns redneck is talking about. I had a problem with my previous '11 3.7L engine dying away when I turned left only. Strange I know. On one of my many look sees under the hood I popped the fuse cover off, and found that most of the fuses weren't completely seated. I pushed them completely down, and it seemed to help. Either the truck cured itself with more miles or the fuses were my problem. I don't have any idea if it can help you with your problems, but it is something to look for. Good luck.

popped the hood, all fuses look good.
me suspects a computer problem. let a co worker borrow it for lunch and he tried the keyless start, tried to turn over and he said it made a "grinding" sound. then truck refused to start. tried to start it 3 more times then it finally worked.

Check the fuses in the passenger kick panel too. Don't just look at them, make sure they are all pushed in completely.

had the same problem once years ago, seat belt chime going off, radio searching on its on, shift problems among other things. turn out to be a bad battery, when battery drops below 11.5 volts it goes into a limp home mode. new battery fixed the problems, when the dealer told me that, i did not believe at first. they explained to me once the voltage falls below a threshold it tries to get you to a fix. try simple things first, clean the battery posts and then check voltage running and not. at idle my truck runs about 14.2 volts and 12.8v off.

Exactly what he said, & check your ground connections real good.
