Does anyone know of a mod to replace this pump? I know it was replaced with a mechanical version in 2013 and was wondering if there are ideas out there.
I have a 2012 with 38000. Haven't had a working pump in months. Got the run around from the dealer with the extended warranty. Was told I need to have the brakes done even though 50% pad left.
When I asked about the pump they said it didn't make a bad noise so its good. I then asked if this was the official diagnostic method from Dearborn - "they always make a loud noise if they're bad, yours made none at all" - Where is the commercial for that?
I don't expect Ford to own up to this unless injuries pile up. If I'm going to shell out several hundred every so often then I suppose I'd rather try something that might work.

The dealership just said that mine is about to go out and it is a $900 fix. I have a 2011 FX4 w/ only 39,000 miles on it. It's also a little concerning that I took it in for the apparently common suddering problem with the intercooler. I just purchased the truck and apparently the TSB has already been performed for the shuddering and they couldn't replicate the problem (because it isn't raining right now). Doesn't build a lot of confidence when I've had the truck for less than a month now and already two common problems and the warranty is expired.
I just ran into this problem on my 2011 EcoBoost (68,000 miles). Bought the Motorcraft part on RockAuto for $350 ( Part # BRPV10). Super simple to replace - the new one is plastic, the old one looked like cast aluminum and was totally shot - looked exactly like this one:
As of June 22 the NHTSA is investigating all 2011-2012 F150's with the 3.5L eco. Just Google search NHTSA investigates brake failure on 2011 F150's and you will see results. It's still an open investigation so no final word just yet but looks like there have been some injury accidents and close calls. I go in Monday to get mine fixed and will be bringing all my print outs of the investigation.
Here is a link to the complaints, just filter by service brakes
Cut off piece that was kinked and not allowing proper vacuum.
This is the piece of vacuum line that I cut between the two radiator clamps.
I have had the no power brake issue for a few months now. Changed the brake vacuum pump and still had problems. I looked closer today and found the vacuum line from the brake vacuum booster that connects to the master brake cylinder was kinked and stopping proper vacuum . Here are some pics. I cute the vacuum line so it fit better and no more brake problems. Hope this helps someone else.
