There is the marketing angle that the 6.2L is the "top dog" engine to marry up with Ford's "top dog" F150; no matter if the Eco or 5.0L are just as viable.
There is the profit angle as Ford typically gets premium return on its Raptors as well as 6.2L engines relative to the other F150 offerings.
Finally, albeit less impactful, helps keep the 6.2L production line moving.

I don't think I'd of bought a Raptor with the Eco.
Don't get me wrong, the Eco is a great motor, and I was going to get an FX4 Eco, but it just doesn't fit the Raptor. To me, the Raptor needs that growl that the Eco just doesn't have.

The 5.4 was the base engine with the 6.8 as the high end gas engine. The 5.4 was the biggest half ton gas engine at the time of release of the Raptor and it was quickly replaced with the 6.2. I'm not saying it wouldn't be cool to see a 5.0 or EB Raptor but the 6.2 is the best fit IMO

The raptor is not marketed to people on budgets or who just want a run of the mill truck. It's marketed to those who want an artificial genital extension. Those people don't want an economical engine. They want the biggest and baddest the company offers. Hence the 6.2.

Yeah the Raptor is one heavy pig with big heavy tires and then there's the off-road tuning and expected off-road duty. If anything I'd want a bigger engine in a Raptor, 460ci stump puller aka 7.5 liter.
