I have used a K&N on an older truck I use to own and never had a problem with it What changed my mind on never using them again was what I found on my ATV. I had one on my old Honda TRX300EX and I every time I cleaned the filter I saw some light dust in the intake tube going to the carb. I switched to a UNI filter (foam) just to give it a try and I never saw that dust inside the intake tube again. Took the K&N and tossed it and never used one again. Go surf any ATV or Motorcycle forum and they will all say the K&N lets in more dirt than any other filter out there.

 

Can you get that sound enhancement with use of a new high quality filter, rather than stock, or is it really only a noticeable change in sound with addition of a cold air intake?
