Default Dragging Brake Caliper

IM not sure why or how to fix but I have a dragging brake on my drive side front. Figured it was the guide pins so when I replaced the pads I used all new guide pins lubbed well and I ended up finding a crack in the piston so I replace the caliper... so down I have a whole new caliper brake setup...new caliper, guide pins, pads..and I notice its still dragging on the back side of the set up. HOw do you fix a dragging brake?? its must not be retracting all the way and rubs and ofcourse it burns up the pads and smells.......its all new but still does it???

What gives. I figured it was guide pins not allowing the caliper to move properly when the brake was/is release but no.

Thank you all.

Did you verify that the pads are in the correct position? I fixed a friends 13 that had a brake dragging and I found the pads wee installed incorrectly, I swapped them around and it was all good after that.

I did not see a vehicle description but,

I have seen brake lines delaminate internally and the loose portion acts like a check valve preventing the pressure from releasing and dragging the pads. If this is an older truck this could be the problem, unlikely but possible

As mentioned, make sure the inner and outer pads are in the right position. Inner pad has ears on it.

That happened to my 2011. Driver side was like a check valve and passenger side I couldn't get fluid out.

2012 fx4 super crew, 174k miles. Had the same issue intermittently with the brake pad dragging some times worse than others. Pulled everything off inspected lubed pins again. Still happened, so I put two new calipers and hoses on the front. Hopefully it fixes it.

Pads could fit too tight. I always file down the edges of new pads to give some more room to slide.
