Bill, get Crystal involved. It's the latch assembly, and the dealer needs to man up, and replace the thing. My Wifey's Mustang had the same problem. My dealer replaced it twice with the second time fixing the problem. This seems to be a problem across Ford's line-up. I say they need to fire the company that makes them, and get another supplier.

I am going to try another dealer that I have used for years. Selling dealer was a first time experience and I am not going back.

Truck needs oil change, door pull issue, and nav so times shows vehicle not on the proper road. Going to make appt ASAP.

Whatever the tolerance for manufacture of the latch assembly is it is very close. I have not had this problem once since temperatures went below 60 degrees. So the expansion of the metal might be causing the problem. Unfortunately that means I will very shortly be back to pulling two or three times every time to get in. Sigh

Let me know how the second dealership visit goes, Billr; as Wanted33 suggested, I'm happy to help out however I can. Send me a PM with your full name, best daytime phone number, VIN, mileage, and preferred servicing dealership; I'll see what I can do to assist.

Once it starts happening again, kydsid, get your truck in at the local dealership so you can replicate it for them. Feel free to contact me when you're headed in and I'll check out options to assist.

I appreciate the response. However I'm not letting a minimum wage untrained tech, because that's all the dealer can afford with how little you pay for warranty work, tear apart my door. I was once that minimum wage tech. I'll wait till the latch breaks or otherwise and pay an actual certified mechanic to fix your faulty engineering/sloppy QA/QC.

How about you send an email to your QA/QC section to get this fixed at assembly for all your future buyers.

First your assuming you'll get a minimum wage tech, next your assuming the minimum wage tech will be untrained and have the same/less skill than you did as a minimum wage tech (hint: if they don't fix it right the first time you can take it back and have them fix it) and then you won't take it in until it breaks....

Damn then quit bitchin...

My wife's 2013 had the same problem, took it in and they replaced parts in the door and hasn't had a problem since. We may have had a minimum wage untrained tech, but whoever it was fixed it...

i have the same problem on my 13 dr door. when i got it it would do it occasionally; took it in and they adjusted something and now it does it every time. however when we took it in i didn't know that it only did it after you lock/unlock it so we couldn't duplicate the problem. just need some extra time now to take it back. and to get the d*mn keyless looked at. barely works no matter where i am in relation to the truck.

I'm not bitching. I'm confirming an earlier statement about the effect of temperature as correlating to my latch also. I'm also not assuming, I asked who would do the work. I'm also judging it therefore is not worth my time to get it fixed, just like you did when you gaped your own spark plugs. I merely thanked the cs rep for their time and let them know what alternative action they could take for customer satisfaction, ie to get it fixed or more precisely have them take notice like you said they will if we all go in for warranty work. I just don't have the time or patience to wait for them to get it right when it isn't outright broke considering all the factors. But thanks for the unkind words. Have a good one.

So in response to your post I quoted and words the CS Rep won't tell you on this forum, but I am sure is thinking
"Sorry you feel it's too much to do take it in for warranty, but thanks for the unkind words. Have a good day."

Confirming the temperature was a previous post. Your post I quoted reminds me of the people that complain about who got voted into office, yet never voted themselves. Your missing the point, I am not trying to be 'unkind'.

Another assumption, sloppy QA/QC, did you not open the door before you bought your truck? Maybe QA/QC did it when the truck was under 60 deg? Maybe your QA/QC is sloppy when you purchase a vehicle? Or just maybe and more likely something moves/flexes in the latch after awhile? My wife's 2013 worked fine for the first month/two.

One other hint, you could take it to another dealer, like a small town dealer and your less likely to get a min. wage untrained tech or just maybe if you establish a relationship with your service adviser you might be able to meet the tech...

Also on my plugs, I took it in twice to 'give' Ford a chance to at least try to correct it, they didn't go that route. They did take me in a brand new truck (that I picked out) on a test drive and proved to me that even brand new truck had the semi-rough idle while in drive and stopped. At that point I realized to my dealer it was acceptable, but not to me so I took matters into my own hands and checked the plug gap then re-gapped so all were the same. Point here is I at least let the service guys try and it got logged in the system.

The other point is each vehicle that is brought in under a warranty complaint is logged, whether they find/fix the problem or not. Enough people come in on the problem Ford will take notice. Since your not bringing it in your not 'helping' the problem get fixed for you and others. The 'valid' squeaky wheel gets the grease and just some guy complaining/'confirming' on a forum is damn near a waste of time....
