Default Door Keypad Code Question

Hello All-

I'm a volunteer firefighter/fire police at my local fire department. If any of you have been in a firehouse you will know that pranks are at the top of the list for things to do. Yesterday, while at a call, some of the guys figured out my ford factory code and ended up disassembling all my interior lighting and interior lightbar. I went to change the code but saw that the ford factory code will always work. Is there a way around this to disable that factory code? I don't really see any point in changing to a new code if the factory one still works... Any help would be appreciated!

we cant change it at the dealer. a new body control module would be required or disconnecting the keypad for awhile.

So basically, the only way to get a new permanent code is to get an entirely new body control module?

If you really want to **** someone off get a cross cut shredder and shread a bunch of old newspaper. Fill up their vehicle with it and see how long it takes them to get it all out.

How in gods name did they figure it out? They had to have watched you punch it in or you left it unlocked.

The odds that someone can brute force a random code like that are astronomically low.

Hmmmm now that I think about it. There are only 5 buttons. How long is the manufacturer default code? 5? That should be pretty easy to brute force.

5 buttons, but each has 2 sides (0-1, 1-2, etc) for 10 digits total.

100k unique 5 digit codes possible, better bring some refreshments with you.

Are you sure.? I just punch the middle of the button to unlock and it doesn't seem to discriminate between say 1 and 2.

Plus, if it is like the old system you could input number streams and it didn't care. If the code was 72014 you could put in 123472014 and it would unlock. If that is still the case it decreases the number of attempts by a large margin.

I haven't tested that since an old 89 Thunderbird so it may have changed.

You can always put about 10 panduit straps (zip ties)around someones drive shaft and watch their face on that one.

I didn't realize that was the case. I've only used mine a couple of times.
