Door Keypad Code Question
Thanks for all your input guys, I was at that call for about 2 hours so they had some time to crack the code, I also have a feeling they had some idea what buttons to press since I usually unlock my truck with the keypad so they probably saw me.
Dooh! You are correct 5 to the fifth power. I was thinking 10 to the fifth power. :-)
This is an interesting question but I think that people are attributing too many possible combinations. A quick look at the pad and given the fact that 5 numbers are required I would guess that there are far fewer combinations than described in even O2brich version, You can't really look at the numbers as the combination but the buttons. There are 5 buttons and codes of 5 button combinations which can be typed in 6 number combinations giving two guessing a a time.
Buttons:
1-2
3-4
5-6
7-8
9-0
The numbers 11111, 11112,11122,11222,12222, 22222, 22221, 22211, 22111, 21111, 21212, 21112, 11211, 12112, 21211 and etc are all the same sequence of buttons. This also applies to combinations of 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 7 and 8 or 9 and 0. It is easier to reassigned the numbers to other number or even to letters representing the buttons to simply the combinations. By guessing two combinations at once by using 6 number combinations you can divide total guesses in half. I have also noticed that I can make a couple of errors before entering my combination into my keypad without apparent penalty when I finally enter the right combination. This behaviour may actually decrease the total number for button combinations again if three or more combinations many be tried in a sequence.
You are right, there should be 3125 combinations of buttons but there are fewer required combinations to try. If 7 number combinations can be used three answers are possible each time you guess.

Myself I would disable it and keep my keys with me. Limit the ability to get into my truck.
We had a guy who would put butter under the door handles of our busettes and even personal cars. He did it to the wrong guy and was warned his car was gonna be put on blocks. He wasn't liked and when asked for a leave of absence was told to pound sand. He thankfully quit.
I'm one for pranks but vehicles are off limits.
Last summer someone got into my 2014 and stole a gun from the console. I KNOW the door was locked. I was eating lunch at a local restaurant and security cameras showed someone walk up to my door and open it fairly quickly. The camera was too far away to get much detail.
The cop who took my report told me that my key fob signal was probably stolen and cloned to open the door. Says it happens a lot. It isn't a problem when unlocking the door, but I'd advise locking the door by pushing the button on the door panel. I did a little research on this and it is a real problem.
I was also told, but cannot confirm that it is possible for someone with connections to a Ford dealership to obtain the door codes. Supposedly there is a master code out there that will unlock any truck. I haven't been able to confirm whether that is legit or not.

Yeah, I used to be an EOD tech in the Air Force, we used to mess with each other all the time, loud horns in desks that went off when you sat down, various pressure switches and other IED type stuff, but personal vehicles were off limits

hands off.
