Does anyone use flexfuel? E85
I have a 13 xlt 5.0 off road and max tow and it's flexfuel compatible I found a gas station by work that sells E85 but has anyone tried it? I'm worried since alot of people don't use it that the gas sits there. It's a good bit cheaper then regular and I'm aware your mpg does drop a bit. How'd it work for you?
quite a few threads on this.
for me, e85 needs to be around 50 cents a gallon just to break even. More than that in the winter time here...
This summer it was a buck a gallon cheaper so I ran it a lot. It's fine.

Wow, and the benefits are???? You lost 6 mpg's on E85. It may cost less but you will be filling up more. I don't blame you,,Thanks for the heads up my 14 is a FlexFuel..You just saved me the headache..
I used it and liked it if I got it cheap enough. But when it started getting cold here in Milwaukee, it took the truck forever to start up. So I switched back to 87. Might run it again when temps hit around 45/50ish again.
We have no real choice in Canada anymore (yeah, not E15 but up to 10%):
"Ethanol-blended gasoline is a fuel that typically contains up to 10% ethanol in unleaded gasoline. We use ethanol in our gasoline where legislation requires its use and where conditions warrant. The Federal Government has regulated that motor gasoline sold in Canada after Sept. 1, 2010 must contain an annual pool average of 5% ethanol. Different provincial mandates also exist, some with higher ethanol pool requirements. Because of these mandates, most grades of Petro-Canada fuel may now contain up to 10% ethanol. This represents a change from the previous state, where premium fuel was ethanol-free at Petro-Canada. To find out if ethanol-blended gasoline is sold at a station look for the yellow labels in the pump area indicating that the fuel may contain a maximum of 10% ethanol."

I've used it a couple times just to see what it was like. Yeah, you lose 3-4 mpg but the extra "get up & go" was fun! Seemed like the truck had good bit more pep. Read somewhere here on the forum, the gain was about 15hp...not sure how much extra hp there was, but there was a definite increase. Here in LA there's not much difference in price between e85 & 87 oct...so I won't be using it again until the price gap increases.
