Disapppointed former Excursion owner (bought a Chevy)
Not me, but a friend of mine. It was really kind of strange because he's always had Fords and was really planning on buying a new F-150, trading in his V10 powered Excursion. Last week he shows up with a Z71 Chevy. Nice truck, but he is already a bit disappointed with it. He has a small boat, maybe 3000 lbs towed weight and was surprised at how the Z71 struggled compared to his Excursion.

You notice I didn't say anything about GM!
Unless you are buying a little box on wheels then you shouldn't worry about gas milage especially if you are buying a HUGE box on wheels. Thats why all these "MPG" threads in a TRUCK forum kills me.
It gets about 8 mpg by the way. lol

Do you have a 35' motor home with the 3.5L Ecoboost in it?
Last I saw towing mileage of the ecoboost isn't any better than towing mileage of the V8s. I'd venture to say it would perform similarly (mileage wise) in a big motor home as the V10 does.

From: After 20 + years in the foothills of the Sierras; I am now [back] in the south-end of Sunny SoCal!
I bought a new Excursion Limited (V10) in 2002, and I really liked it and its big gas tank; especially on long road trips--wherein, I found it very roomy and comfortable, for my 6'-4" frame.
However, I missed the versatility of a truck (with a bed) which made launching and retrieving a boat so much easier; so I traded it in on a new Black 2004 F-250 XLT Screw (V-10) which I kept for nearly five years, until I traded it on my current 2009 F-150 Screw.
BTW, with the V-10, on the freeway and with cruise control, I consistently got 16 mpg. on trips from NorCal down to L.A. on I-5; but it was more like 10-12, around town. However, both units pulled my beautiful 1997 21' Mariah-Shabah, like it wasn't even there.
Today, I do like the ride, handling, and maneuverability of the F-150 far better than the F-250; wherein, the F-150 meets/exceeds all of my current needs in a truck.
Now, I am really looking forward to the new '13, with an EB!
