Well, update after Toddmans post. I've always had my rear vents shut on the console. Opened them and pointed them to the floor. Amazingly a pretty decent difference. Still not a ton of air to the back of the seat. But noticeably more than before. Trip to dealer avoided for now! Horray!

Mine works well, both bottom and back. Glad they do after the last couple of days. I don't even run it on high except for right after I get in.

Here's a thought ,,,does anyone think the perforations in the leather could be getting clogged with whatever leather conditioner we use

I don't use a leather cleaner on mine, as I was told the Lariat is more a plastic coating on the top...just wipe it down. I usually run Max AC and I will try the feet thing and see if it does help. Thanks for the advice.

I think some have different expectations of what the ac seats do. They pull air from below and blow it thru the seat perforations. I.f its cool inside ( or getting there) it will pull that cool air up thru the seats. It won't blow ur skirt up, part ur hair ( if that's ur thing) it just keeps the heat down between u and the seat.

Yes, on full blast it feels like ur pants are wet, cause ur sitting on a cooled seat. Bottom and back both cool, but it takes a fair amount of cool air to be pulled from the rear to get it consistent.

I too think that there is debris and dirt falling through the holes in the leather and getting partially blocking/clogging something. Just a thought. Could this be true though?

When I turn mine on I get the sensation of biting into a Peppermint Patty!

I had a purchased brand new 2011 with heated/cooled seats. The seat bottoms and backs seemed to cool just fine from the start and never had a problem.

I traded for a brand new 2013 with heated/cooled seats. The seat bottom seems to cool ok but not as good as the 2011. The back has basically no cooling at all.
I had the dealer do all kind of checks. He says it is fine. Trust me - it is not the same as the 2011. I have started doing some diagnostics on my own. Here is what I have found so far:
1. If you reach around and under the edge of the back of the seat close to the outside bottom edge you will feel very hot air blowing out. No idea what this is and the dealer has not explained it.
2. I unzipped the back of the seat and opened it up and did some looking around. The fan seems to blow a lot of hot air out thru the bottom opening. It seems to blow just a very small amount of air out the front of the fan unit into the inside of the seat foam. There is a small filter around the outside edge of this fan unit where it seems to be pulling air from up inside the seat assembly (not sure how air is supposed to get up into the inside of the seat itself as there does not seem to be any ducting or clear openings to it).
3. If you put the cool seat setting on high and not sit in the seat - the bottom will get to feeling cool after a few minutes but the back never seems to really cool off. And as I say - there is a tremendous amout of heat coming from that opening in the back lower outside corner.

This is all I have figured out so far. I think I am going to call Ford and see if I can get an engineer involved to explain how this system is supposed to work and why the back is not blowing any air.
