A nice stain remover might fix the marks on the liner, i just ended up leaving mine alone because it was only in a tiny spot in the corner

if they change the mirror, chances are they will have to replace the windshield

I would be concerned about mold and mildew developing on the headliner, or worse on the back side where you can't see it, especially given the humidity in those Florida summers. Heading down there in a few weeks to check out my vacation/future retirement house and to check on my parents.

Screw that! If I have to get the rearview mirror replaced then it's gonna be a mess. I have my backup camera in there so they'd have to probably rewire stuff, take down the headliner, and do a bunch of other stuff I'd rather them not mess with. I'm gonna go clean it right now and cross my fingers that it doesn't come back...

It's not that big or that damp I don't know. You're scaring me lol. I guess I'll have to discuss all of that with the dealer tomorrow. Drive safe on your trip

I don't think you need silicone on the gasket for the updated 3rd brake light. It's attached to the 3rd brake light so you get a whole unit, not just a gasket. My old one had fine dirt trapped between the gasket and the body. The new one seals pretty tight.

Many guys here have said the dealer replaced their headliners after a leak. I'd have them replace it as there might be more water damage where you can't see, not to mention mold issues that could arise.

*edit: dammit, I need to post quicker w/o walking away from the computer in the middle of typing

I think the condensation has nothing to do with a bad rear view mirror and just the moisture from the headliner causing it.

So after reading 20+ threads on the third brake light leak, it appears there's not actually a TSB out for it although its a common issue. Hopefully, the dealership won't give me a gripe about it. I'll also discuss possibly getting a new headliner installed when I talk to the dealer, and I'm going to ask them to do the TSB on the sat antenna leak also even though it's not happening to cover my bases.

I agree with a previous post. The condensation on the mirror is the result of the moisture leaking in from the brake light or sat antenna. I would say you need to have the dealer drop the headliner and see how much moisture is really there. You also need to get your truck dried out. If things start to mold, you will never get the smell out.

Update: Got up early this morning to take it into the dealer. Right off the bat, the service advisor said they couldn't do anything about it today. She said that replacing the third brake light is no problem but as far as the headliner goes, they have to take pics, send them to Ford, and then see what Ford tells them to do. She said most likely they'll send my truck to a glass repair shop to clean the headliner because they contract that out. I told her that I was worried about possible mold or rust. She said they put a chemical on there that stops mold and whatever. So I asked if they could go ahead and take the pics now while I'm there to go ahead and start the process, but supposedly they couldn't even do that yet. Basically, she said it's a whole day job so I have to drop it off for a whole day during M-F since they have to take it to a different place that isn't open Saturdays. I was really hoping it'd only take a few hours and I could just wait on it. Probably be a week and a half until I can drop it off for a whole day. While I was there, I told her I also wanted to get the sat antenna leak TSB done as well. She hadn't heard about that one, so I explained it to her (my truck is within the time frame of the problem). But she asked if I actually had a leak, and being a person that doesn't like lying at all even a little white lie I said no. So she said they couldn't do it until it starts leaking. So maybe I should silicone around it myself? In better news, since I cleaned off the condensation on the rearview mirror last night it hasn't reappeared.

Typical dealer service.

Sounds like they've had the 3rd brake light issue before and isn't giving you a hard time about it. I had to go to a service manager to get it replaced w/o going thru hoops.

I'd definitely follow thru with the headliner issue. Sounds like bs about putting chemicals to stop mold. It could be mold resistant materials but that's not 100% and if you google mold related health issues, you'd want it done right immediately. I'm not trying to freak you out but it should be brought to your attention at least.

Most guys are just putting a bead of silicone around the sat antenna themselves. That's what the dealer does. It's just like applying caulk in a bathroom. Run a wet finger around it and it'll smooth out and look good. I haven't done it yet but probably will this spring/summer.
