Computers on backorder
Can't be a good sign that computers for our trucks are on a national back order. Mine has been in three times now for a CEL and yesterday they installed the new computer after a two week wait due to the back order. Well the truck wouldn't "accept" the new computer apparently so they reinstalled the old so I can drive it all weekend. Will know on Tuesday if they ordered wrong computer or whatever else ford will tell the dealer.
So then today I notice driving that my driver side front window whistles like it doesn't fully seal, and when I hit bumps there is something clunking within the door.
truck has 2500 miles on it and I don't like how it's working out so far. Beginning to get frustrated but I know it isn't the dealers fault.
After next trip to dealer if problems aren't solved I will most likely write the first letter to ford services re: purchasing a lemon.

I work at a Ford dealer. I got a 2012 FX2 ecoboost that came in on the hook thursday morning. Died while driving, all warning lights on in the cluster. Long story short needs a PCM at 149 miles. Part is backordered with no release date due to a supplier issue.
Uh oh. PCU on backorder doesn't sound good...
Perhaps a batch of defective PCU's from whatever subcontractor makes them if it can't be fixed with a reflash? Would also explain the back order if lots of PCU's in the pipeline and even in warehouse need to be pulled.
Business question: Is it o.k. for a company like Ford to divert nearly all production of a fixed/revised part to new production, even if it means current owners have much longer down time on their nearly new vehicles? I'm sure everyone here will say no, but it happens all the time.
Oh, and counting down before somebody lists this as another 'EcoBoost problem'

Well today the dealer contacted Ford and installed a different program to the new computer and it seems to be running like new again. I like that the new program continually displays the gear selection on the LCD screen. I'm not sure what else would be different between my 1/12 truck build and a computer flashed with newest program as of today.
I'll give it a week as the last 3 times it was consistently between day 7-8 when the CEL came back on with remote start deactivated.
