Change name of "SYNC"
2015 F-150 Owner
Also have another Ford.
My phone shows two 'Sync' accounts, and I would like to change the name of one of them to 'F150'. How can I make this change? Is it possible?
Thanks,
Bob

If I'm not mistaken you can do it on the sync website. I know I have changed the name on both of my sync accounts.
Are you referring to the name that appears in the Bluetooth settings on your phone when connected to SYNC?

Good question!
I also would like to change the name of at least one or two of our Fords in the driveway. Between my F150, the wife's Mustang and son's Ford Focus, its a pain in the **** trying to figure out which one is which when connecting to blue tooth devices. I have the same problem with rental cars while on business trips and wind up deleting the wrong "SYNC" and have to start all over again when I get back home to reconnect it.
It's one of Ford's engineering departments shortcomings.

Those are the names of the VEHICLES. Simply go into your Bluetooth settings, click on the gearwheel, and change the name of the paired device, which is in fact the vehicle.
Since they are identical, you need to connect to one of them so you know which one is which, then simply rename it.
The "shortcoming" is in the user - not Ford - since it's the name of the Bluetooth device. Go buy 3 headsets of the same model and connect them. All will have the exact same name. Even if Ford said "F-150", if you had two F-150s then it would still be a problem.
In the vehicle, you can go into the Sync settings and change the name of the PHONE, so instead of X42TC or something similar, it can say "Bob's phone" or "Mary's phone".
Also, remember that Bluetooth has a range. Sync has you pick a Primary Phone. If that's your wife, and you go out and get in the truck, when you start up if she is in range then her phone will connect. As you drive away, her phone will disconnect and Sync won't automatically connect your phone, you have to initiate that in the truck or turn off the truck, and restart.

Ricktwuhk is correct. The vehicle's name is SYNC, so any device it connects to will appear as that. Every phone is different, but you'll have to go into the Bluetooth settings to change the name. I know it's an option on Android and Windows phone but not iPhones.
