Default Cam phaser issue.... Again

I guess this is post to vent more than anything but my 2010 5.4 has. Cam phaser problem now, sounds like a diesel at idle. My previous 2008 5.4 left me stranded when the cam phasers went. Was hoping ford Corrected this problem in the new 5.4s but apparently not, truck is going in tomorrow hopefully they don't tell me everything is ok

How many miles? The new 5.4 is better and I don't see as any issues with them.

Checkout the Livernois cam phaser lockout kit. $700 and you can do it yourself. Prevents the phaser from destroying themselves, but does cut a little performance.

Only 43k and to add to my previous post, the truck has also acted like it wants to stall every once and a while when I come to a stop. Idle gets very rough with a rattling or knocking type noise coming from the engine

Any news from the dealership, Frdtrtnfx4? I'll be here if you need help from my neck of the woods.

Yes, turns out it's the variable cam shaft timing solenoids. Just waiting for the call that it's done.

There is a TSB for the solenoids. I had one replaced due to rattling. The dealer diagnosed it as a cam phaser problem but then another tech that knew more about the problem said solenoid. Problem solved.

Sorry to inform you, but there is no fix for this problem.

If you'll read my posts about this issue, you can see they tried to change all associated parts on my truck, and it was only a temporary band aid.

I've had all the parts changed two and three times. The parts are consumables. Change every 6 oil changes.

Man I hope that's not the situation for mine. I'm about 25k-30k miles since the solenoid replacement and it's been perfect so far.

Picked the truck up brought it home and it still sounds like a diesel. Sigh, dealership said it shot a code and they replaced the variable camshaft timing solenoids, guess I'll just have to live with the noise
