I always run w/one. I am not overly fond of the looks (really don't mind them too bad) but they sure help keep the rock chips down. I think as far as keeping the windshild clean I don't think it helps that much. I got mine thru Ford and think I paid about $60 and installed it (no drilling)myself, pretty simple and I think the way it installs it shouldn't mess the paint up at all like some of the older ones did. A lot of the guys prefer the clear bra but unles you can do it yourself, they can be quite expensive.

I bought a chrome 'aero-skin' by AVS. They do not have the wind screen panel. Easy to install, no drilling and the fit is perfect. Took about 5 minutes to install.

I hate the look of bug deflectors so I went with a clear bra by Ventureshield instead. Also gives you headlight and bumper protection.

I went with the ERG Deflector, looks good and is very sturdy and feels like it can take some abuse. I am personally not a fan of the Ford deflector, the way it covers up the top lip of the chrome throws off the proportions of the chrome grille imo.

As for if they work, they may help some with bugs but it certainly helps to protect your hood from rocks and such. I personally also like the way the ERG looks on the new trucks, certainly helped to offset the chrome Grille from my Silver Lariat.

I have the AVS smoked deflector on mine. I agree with everyone else that it helps with debris and rocks but not so much with bugs. I am happy with mine, fits well and took maybe 15 minutes to install.
