As for if they work, they may help some with bugs but it certainly helps to protect your hood from rocks and such. I personally also like the way the ERG looks on the new trucks, certainly helped to offset the chrome Grille from my Silver Lariat.
Can you (or anyone) post a pic of the ERG deflector? I can't find an image online and would love to see it by what you describe. Thanks!

Did you notice the whistling sound these produce yet? I have the same and it increases the wind noise. The other chrome shorty that Ford has vibrates like crazy. Had dealer change to the full size smoked like yours. At least the whistle is less agrivating than the vibration...

Have not heard the whistle, but have increased wind noise, which I assumed came from the side window deflectors that were installed at the same time. Maybe it is that bug guard! I solved the problem by cranking the tunes- LoL

The loaner truck I had for a week had a factory bug deflector. It used rubber bumpers AGAINST the paint to stop the thin plastic from flexing. One of the bumpers was already half off the deflector, so I pushed it back in position.

Years ago I bought a Lund (IIRC) bug deflector for another Ford. The rubber bumpers eventually scuffed up the paint I was trying to protect. Absolute waste of money & effort. For that reason, I have no interest in the Ford version.

Do the aftermarket ones (like the EGR Deflector) use bumpers as well, or are they thick enough this isn't necessary?

I know it can be done as the one on my Xterra I just traded in worked great, no bumpers needed.

I have one and I have noticed that it works well. I originally got it because I liked the look and also that I had a few minor rock chips on the front of the hood. I have noticed less bugs actually due to the air flow change. The only real complaint that I have from them is that it changed the downforce on my windshield wipers and now they don't wipe as well when traveling at a highway speed. Oh well, can't win them all I suppose.

I just installed a Lund Interceptor.
While I notice some slight wind noise... It is actually queiter than the wind noise I had without the deflector.

Took 4 tries to get the set from them though. 1st didnt come with the install kit, 2nd install kit was only partial, 3rd same.... 4th they sent a whole new defelctor with install kit and now I will more than likely ship that to my father as he has an 09 150.

I want the EGR one as well, here is the best price I found on it:
http://www.streetsideauto.com/produc...tnumber=393374

101 bucks delivered for the chrome one, but they are temp. out of stock...

I don't want one that covers the chrome on top of the grille, just my personal preference...

I am having trouble installing my new chrome bug shield on my 2010 F 150 XLT. There are clips holding the grille to the hood and I can't figure them out.

Help?
