Default blow through console conversion

Anybody done it? Is it doable? I have a regular xlt console right now.

Not that there's anything wrong with this setup, but I'd like the vents to be able to blow to the back seat.

I know that I'd have to either convert to floor shift or remove the shifter and do something with the hole it leaves.

I'd have to figure out what to do with the aux ports, and I'd have to open up the front of my dash and rout the lines that go to the vents.

Has it been done?

There's air going to the back via airducts under both front seats. You're saying you want to reroute this up through the center console?

I wasn't aware anything was blowing under the seats. I was looking at installing the fx4 center console with the vents in it.

I've done an interior swap 2012xlt to 2014 fx4 dual zone and front what I've seen you'll need to swap to a dual zone heater box. there are floor vents under the seats but there's a separate cut out in dual zone boxes for the flow through console, or you could just cut it and make something custom to flow air to the back

Do you just need the console?

you would at least need some type of tubing to route the air through. Honestly I'm not sure there's much coming from the sides of the console. I think you'd have to bring the air from the front instead due to the shape of the console. I don't know how hard it it'd be, probably very difficult. But in theory, you'd have to find a good amount of space behind the dash, to tap into a front air source and then route that tubing to the console's vents.

Why couldn't he just find a wrecked fx4 that had this console and grab everything. Console, heater box, controls, hoses for heat/ac, electronics, etc.

thats basically what i did, i knew my 2012 xlt would take a lariat,fx4 etc interior but figured if i was going to swap it id go as new as i could. so i swapped floor harness and got a 13/14 fx4 dash with 8' my ford touch the swap was 95% bolt in and plug and play you need almost everything but was so worth it, ive since swapped to sync3 and am in the process of adding full oem ambient lighting

I was under the impression that trucks with flow-through consoles had different dashes than the ones without?
