Well, the dealership I go to said they cannot change the blinker volume. Although the regular guy I deal with was on vacation this week, and had to deal with someone I did not know that sounded like they just did not want to talk to me at all. I still have not had any responce from Ford and will let you know as soon as I do.

Anyone know what the noise maker looks like and if it has a sound hole? Maybe a piece of tape across the opening of the clicker or chime would dampen it enough to make it tolerable???

Mine gets on my friggin' nerves but I haven't had time to dig for it.

The sound level does not bother me, but if it did, I would just stop using the turn signals. Thanks girls.

I never noticed that the blinkers are loud. Great! Now I probably will assuming I ever get my truck back from the dealership. I took it in almost two weeks ago at 22,000 miles for a transmission leak between the transmission and transfer case (transmission side). When I went to pick it up there was a horrible growling sound. They have had it ever since. I'm going to start a thread on the issue so I'll cover the details there. It seems maybe the leak is a common problem.

Nice to know. Oh and thanks for the "girl" comment. It was really funny, my wife got a kick out of it.

Damn, that sucks. I hope you get your truck back soon, and sorry to to point out a non-issue and then turn it into one. LOL

Sounds right, blinker comes through through one of the integrated modules, probably the IPC, which changes things based on other warning signals as well that it receives over the CAN bus.

But I don't think that makes it any easier to fix... The code for determining warning chime priority/volume is probably burned into some Eprom.

If somebody was motivated enough, they could probably find the appropriate eprom or interface, reverse engineer the code, and reprogram it (think aftermarket engine "tunes"). But while plenty of people will pay many hundreds of dollars for somebody to hack/improve their engine tuning, don't think there is much of a market for one of the aftermarket tuners to come out with the "F150 blinker volume tune"

PS: I hate the blinker volume as well. For a quick turn or lane change, they aren't quite as annoying... If I'm sitting at a red light with a dedicated turn lane, I'll just leave them off and just turn them on when the light is close to turning green. Already turned off the seat belt minders, did the wire clip for the insidious "key in, door open" chime.

There is a speaker under the dash on the drivers side, although I haven't turned the signal on a listened to it, I'm sure that's where the chimes come from. It has many holes in it so maybe you can cover half of it with tape or until you reach the sound you want. The guy at my dealer implied you can indeed change the volume. Hmm

Sweet! Please keep us informed if you can indeed change the volume!

I've only had my truck for a week, so I haven't had time to look, but this is what I was going to do. That thing's obnoxious.
