Default Base audio sync 1 swap for oem screen sync

Hello guys,

i recently imported a 2010 f150 lariat to Europe .

it has a base audio, with sync 1 (small screen)

there is a huge market over here for auto parts, and I would like to swap my base radio for a oem big lcd screen radio, including the radio and climate control panel etc.

Has this been done ? Is there any topic I can rely on ? Is any tutorial available, where I can find HU, screen and apim numbers which will work.

i already saw the sync2-sync3 upgrade topic but I will need more parts like hu, as I have a sync 1

help is much appreciated
Peter

I think I recall a member here that tried to do that with a 2011 or 2014 truck and after getting all the parts used he found out his truck wiring harness would not work with the upgraded stuff. If I remember correctly he put it up for sale. This was 4-5 years ago. Search on this forum under audio and stereo. Good luck. TIm

correct. unless you have lots (and lots and lots) of money to burn and time to waste it's not feasible.

Specifically, you can't upgrade Sync1 to Sync2 or 3 without replacing more computers than is feasible. If you are talking about going from base Sync1 to advanced Sync1, that should be doable. Aftermarket is probably easier if it fits in your budget, though.

Thanks for the answers

if the wiring is different then a donor car would be the best to have and compare. But I don’t want to invest comparable money I paid the car in upgrades

i checked on aftermarket head units, do you know anyone installing the Tesla style android screen HU ? It is fairly expensive but proposes a lot more that the oem lcd radio.

Some members have done that. You'll have to look around here. Try searching in audio and stereo. Good luck. Tim

No, that is about upgrading Sync2 to Sync3. As stated above. An omission of a "2" in the thread title in the 2015 forum does not mean it will apply to a 2010 truck.
